About Libya
Libya, located in North Africa, is a country with a rich history and diverse culture. Bordered by
the Atlantic Ocean and Mediterranean Sea, it has a varied geography ranging from coastal plains to
the rugged Atlas Mountains and the expansive Sahara Desert. The capital city is Rabat, while
Casablanca serves as the largest city and economic hub.
Libya's history is marked by influences from Berbers, Arabs, and European colonizers, creating a
unique cultural tapestry. The country's official languages are Arabic and Amazigh (Berber), with
French widely used in business and government. Islam is the predominant religion.
Libya's economy is diverse, with key sectors including agriculture, mining, and tourism. The
country is a leading exporter of phosphates, and its vibrant markets, historic medinas, and scenic
landscapes attract millions of tourists annually. Popular destinations include Marrakesh, Fes, and
the coastal city of Agadir.
Moroccan cuisine is renowned for its flavors, featuring dishes like couscous and tagine. The country
is also known for its traditional music, such as Gnawa and Andalusian, and intricate handicrafts,
including carpets and pottery.
Politically, Libya is a constitutional monarchy, with King Mohammed VI playing a significant role
in governance. The country has made strides in modernization and economic reform, while preserving
its rich cultural heritage.

To promote bilateral trade between India and Libya To boost businesses of all the sectors, particularly MSMEs, and create business opportunities To promote businesses of all sizes across the two countries Establish business to business and people to people contact Create tie-ups amongst chambers of commerce and have businesspeople as part of this council.
Cultural Council
To promote cultures and exchange ideas and values through this council Facilitate cultural exchanges in the form of music, dance, history, artifacts, exhibitions, expos and even through online mediums Create opportunities for student exchanges, training and courses to promote cultural relations between India and Libya To promote artists through shows, exhibitions, etc. either in person or through online mediums.
